Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

It is no secret that I love Nevernight. I started reading it after watching Piera Ford on Youtube talk about it and as soon as I started it I couldn't put it down. I wrote a review after I finished book 1 that I will post below but you can also find it on my Goodreads which you can find here. So in my impatience wait for Darkdawn I will just rave about it again here.
Here was my review/reaction to Nevernight when I finished it:

"This may get heavy. I don’t think Jay Kristoff meant to touch people as deeply as this book will touch those who read it. It says in his about the author section that he doesn’t believe in happy ever after, and that is good because neither does life. This book touched me in a way I didn’t realize until I closed the book and went to grab book 2 off my shelf. Touched me in a way that has me in tears knowing what I am about to type to you all here.

This book was written for those who know life isn’t fair. This book was written for me.
For a girl who only got 8 years with her father before she moved out at 18
For a girl who watched the horror that men are capable of
For a girl who watched her mother die inside from those horrors
For a girl who never really got her mother back... or even had her to begin with
For a girl who lost her brother to it, eight years younger than her
For a girl who lost the first boy who understood her pain, she didn’t love him but lost him all the same
For a girl who was angry at the world beyond belief and tried to suffocate that anger and pain with pages from books
For a girl who despite all of it still gives the world the knuckles and says to hell with its expectations
For a girl who still finds herself completely unremarkable despite all that she has done, and all she has overcome
For a girl who had her innocence stolen away from her before she had a chance to cherish it
For a girl like Mia, who learned from a young age that the world isn’t fair but still says to hell with it.

This book is for you, for the ones that know, life just isn’t fair... and it can f*** off."

Nevernight is what started my journey into reading adult books and I haven't looked back. This world is THICK and amazing, the world building is dense and incredible. The characters aren't as simple as being "good" or "bad" they are complex. This series isn't for everyone of course, but for those feeling like giving it a try, I would highly recommend it. Nevernight was the best book I read in 2018, and Darkdawn is my most anticipated release for 2019.

I am also going to take this opportunity to say that Jay Kristoff is one of the best authors I have read so if you want to find out more about Nevernight or any of his work you can go here. He is also super active on social media and it causes me to hyperventilate every time he acknowledges me.
I hope you guys give Nevernight a try and as always happy reading!
